Clean Up Scotland Sticker Competition

Keep Scotland Beautiful recently challenged schools across Scotland to design a sticker which said thank you to the thousands of Clean Up Scotland volunteers helping to remove rubbish from the countryside, seaside and roadsides.

All of our pupils submitted an entry and the competition received over 1,200 entries which were then judged by Keep Scotland Beautiful with the help of Helping Hand Environmental.  We were delighted to hear that the top prize was awarded to Zoe Barbour in P7, with her entry shown above.

Zoe has received her prize, a school Clean Up kit by Helping Hand Environmental and Keep Scotland Beautiful.

Heather McLaughlin, Community Projects Officer at Keep Scotland Beautiful, commented:

“I would like to thank everyone who took the time to enter the Clean Up Scotland sticker competition. All entries were fantastic, which made the judging particularly difficult, and we look forward to seeing Zoe’s design featuring on Clean Up Scotland stickers that go to all registered clean up participants this year.”

Well done Zoe!

World Book Day – Thursday 1st March

We have lots of activities planned by P6/7 for World Book Day this year!  Some of these include:

  • Book Charades
  • Making Bookmarks
  • Book Quiz
  • Book Hunt
  • Guess the Character
  • Book themed fancy dress or bring a prop

We are also taking part in a charity book swap to support Children 1st.  You should bring a book you are happy to swap with someone else.  There is also the option to bring in a small donation to support Children 1st’s work.  Anyone who takes part will receive a bookmark from Children 1st.

Pupil Council Update by Abigail and Ruaridh

We’ve been very busy lately working on all our ideas to the school better.

Indoor Playtime Big Buddies – When there is a wet playtime two children from P6/7 will help Mrs Sorbie monitor the younger children and encourage them to play.

Masterclass Rota – We are organising activities and groups for Masterclasses.  At the end of every month their will be a Masterclass led by teachers and the pupils will take part in these in groups.  Last year we had Masterclasses in knitting, dancing and different arts and crafts like making bird feeders.
